The American Board of Orthodontics offers a certification program for orthodontists. Certification, which is a voluntary process, provides an extensive review of the orthodontist's basic education, as well as an intensive assessment of the orthodontist's clinical expertise. Orthodontists may become certified as a diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics upon completion of three steps.
