American Dream Explored through Art - Contemporary Emerging Artist
An American flag composed of thousands of tiny cut up and dismantled plastic toy soldiers embedded in clear resin, "These Colors Don't Run, " is a tomb-size floor sculpture by mixed-media artist Michael Sandstrom that attempts to make sense of the immense loss of life incurred by the War in Iraq and the unfettered desire by a select few to sacrifice others in order to have the "American Dream." Challenging us to think about aspects of life that we too often take for granted, This grave sculpture explores depths of emotion seldom felt in the super slick artworld of today.
